About VenueStatus
Page lives at
/about. Marketing copy, lower stakes than legal pages, but still important for AdSense — a thin About page is one of the most common AdSense rejection reasons.
Why VenueStatus exists
Anyone who has ever waited at a youth-soccer field at 5:55 pm wondering whether the 6:00 practice is on, off, or moved knows the problem. Coaches and league directors know it from the other side: a single rained-out evening can mean dozens of phone calls, a thread of texts, a Facebook post no one sees, and a parking lot full of confused parents anyway.
VenueStatus exists to make that one update — closed, open, soft surface, lights only — travel from the person who knows to the people who need to know, in seconds, without anyone chasing.
What it is
VenueStatus is a real-time status page for fields, courts, gyms, parks, rinks, pools, and any other venue whose state changes more often than its address.
- An admin app for the people running the venue. Tap a status. Add a note. Set a next-update time. Done.
- A public page for the people who care. Open the link. See the status. Optionally subscribe to push, email, or text alerts the next time it changes.
That's the whole product, and we work hard to keep it that simple.
Who it's for
- Youth and adult sports leagues — soccer clubs, baseball/softball associations, lacrosse programs, hockey leagues, ultimate clubs.
- Schools and school districts — athletic departments managing dozens of fields and gyms.
- Parks and recreation departments — municipal facilities with dynamic conditions.
- Private facility operators — turf complexes, racquet clubs, camps.
- Any organization that has a venue, a status, and a public that wants to know.
How it's built
VenueStatus is engineered for the moments where it matters most — typically the 30 minutes between a coach deciding to close a field and the first parent showing up.
- Real-time fan-out. When you tap a new status, the public page updates within a second for everyone watching. Notifications go out within a minute.
- Mobile-first admin. The admin app is built natively for iOS and Android (with Flutter) so it loads instantly, works on a sketchy field-side connection, and queues your changes if you briefly lose signal.
- Snappy public page. The public page is statically generated and served from a global CDN — it loads in under two seconds even on a stadium parking-lot 4G connection.
- Hierarchical by design. Cancel an entire location at once when the storm hits, but let individual venues override when conditions vary.
- Privacy-respecting. Free-tier ads are non-personalized and contextual only — the entire domain is configured as child-directed, since youth sports communities include kids by default.
Plans
We offer three plans so any organization can use VenueStatus regardless of budget:

Who we are
VenueStatus is built by Darksoft LLC, an independent software studio. We are a small team that prefers shipping focused, useful software over assembling a feature checklist.
We are not VC-funded. We are not building a "platform". We are building a single tool that does one thing — communicate venue status — and tries to do it better than the alternatives of phone trees, group texts, and "weather hold!" Facebook posts.
If that sounds like the kind of thing your organization wants, we would love to have you start an Org or get in touch.
